Does anyone know if the Keylab's default "DAW" mappings can be customized? I often use NativeKontrol's DDC software to make my own MIDI Remote Scripts, but I sort of doubt this would be possible to use with the KeyLab's DAW mode. Instead, I map to a "Utility" plugin at the end of each FX chain). I don't mix with the master faders or pan controls. I already know I'm not going to enjoy certain pre-mapped controls for Ableton Live (i.e. While I like Arturia's ideas on how to control Ableton Live, I fear the DAW mode might end up being more of a limitation than a benefit. Also, just about every reviewer raves about the keybed feel, so I imagine it'll be at least as good as my SL MK1 / MK2. Also, I haven't been getting very good use out of these plugins with my Novation controllers, so I think the KeyLab would unlock A LOT of creative potential.īuild quality: I haven't touched one in person yet, but it seems pretty clear this thing is not a plastic toy. I already own the Arturia V Collection / Analog Lab, and the integration with those instruments looks VERY tight. I like the simplicity of this keyboard with its three modes: (1) Analog Lab, (2) DAW, and (3) User. Here are the pros and cons I've listed so far: But I've narrowed down to two options: The Novation SL MK3 vs. I know this is the *Novation* sub and opinions may be biased. BTW, I'm a Mac user (MacOS 10.13.6) running Ableton Live 10.1.9. I'm still gonna keep an MK1 in my setup, but it'll probably be dedicated to just one or two soft synths. I don't mind putting in a little time to build my own templates, but its tedious work and I'm hoping to find a modern, 61-key controller to (1) help improve my productivity and (2) integrate better with my (limited) analog gear. The one thing I hate about it though: The Automap software was never very good in my opinion, so I've been making my own templates in the "meh" SL Editor software. I actually prefer the MK1 due to the dual screens. Basically it's my favorite controller, primarily due to the lovely keybed and its UNMATCHED number of physical knobs and faders.

I've been rocking the Novation SL MK1 and MK2 (I have a 25, 37 and 49) for a LONG time.
